NAOS Automatic black-red silver / Premium 20 dark brown

Dark brown is the strap color people reach for when black feels too final and tan feels too loud. On a black dial it reads almost as a shadow of the case.

Sternglas has been designing watches in Hamburg since 2016, and the NAOS Automatik is the model that carries the range. Its dial is an exercise in subtraction, drawn in the Bauhaus-inspired manner the brand is known for, and its case is one of the slimmest profiles Sternglas builds around a mechanical movement.

Here the black dial and its red highlight sit in a 38 mm stainless steel case with a silver-tone polish, on a dark brown Premium leather strap measuring 20 mm at the lugs. The Miyota 8215 automatic inside winds itself as you move, stores 42 hours, and stops its seconds hand when the crown is pulled so the time can be set precisely. A screwed glass back shows the rotor. Sapphire crystal, anti-reflective on both faces, 5 bar of water resistance, date display.

Of the three Premium leather options, this is the one that agrees with the widest range of shoes.
