Black leather under a black dial is the most conventional pairing in watchmaking, which is precisely why the red accent matters here. Without it the watch would simply recede.

The NAOS Automatik is the mechanical heart of the Sternglas range, and the Naos line took a German Design Award in 2024. Founded in Hamburg in 2016, the brand designs to a plain rule: nothing goes on a Naos dial that does not help you read it. Baton markers, sans-serif numerals, a date, and in this case a single stroke of red.

A 38 mm stainless steel case in a silver-tone finish holds the black dial, and the strap is Sternglas's Premium leather in black, 20 mm at the lugs. Behind the dial sits a Miyota 8215 automatic with hacking seconds, 42 hours of power reserve and a date, viewed through a glass caseback held by six screws. Double-domed sapphire with anti-reflective treatment on both surfaces covers it all, and the watch carries 5 bar of water resistance.

The most formal configuration of the black and red Naos, and the easiest one to slide under a shirt cuff.
