The band is the story here. Its surface carries a bishamon kikko pattern, a traditional Japanese tortoiseshell geometry, pressed into fluoro-rubber rather than woven or engraved into metal.
This was the first G-SHOCK to use the Dura Soft fluoro-rubber band, and it comes from MR-G, the flagship line running since 1996 and assembled at Yamagata Casio on the Premium Production Line by one technician per watch.
The case measures 54.7 by 49.8 mm and 16.9 mm deep, in titanium with deep layer hardening, a titanium carbide coating and partial diamond-like coating. The band closes on a one-touch three-fold clasp and stays soft against the skin where a metal bracelet would not. Sapphire crystal, 200 meters of water resistance, Tough Solar charging, and time set from GPS signals, radio and Bluetooth.
Considerably more comfortable than the bracelet versions of this case, with a texture worth turning over in the hand. For a wearer who wants the full metal case and a band built for long days.
