Akazonae meant red arms. In Japan's Warring States period, commanders dressed their elite units entirely in red so that everyone on the field knew which troops they were looking at.
This G-SHOCK MR-G borrows that idea for a GPS hybrid watch. MR-G has been the flagship line since 1996, assembled at Yamagata Casio on the Premium Production Line, one technician to a watch.
The case measures 54.7 by 49.8 by 16.9 mm, in titanium with deep layer hardening under a diamond-like coating, with red running through the dial and case detail against the black metal. The crown sits inside a clad guard structure that protects it without making it awkward to use. A solid titanium bracelet with a tight-lock three-fold clasp. Sapphire crystal, 200 meters of water resistance, Tough Solar, and time set from GPS signals or radio.
The most assertive finish on this case and the one with the clearest story behind it. For a wearer who wants the color to mean something specific.
