MARUS 2.0 Edition Küste dark blue silver / rubber 20 dark blue
Blue on blue is harder to pull off than it looks. Get the two tones wrong and the watch appears to have borrowed someone else's strap. Sternglas keeps them in the same register here, setting the dark blue dial of the MARUS 2.0 Edition Küste against a dark blue rubber strap.
The MARUS 2.0 is Sternglas's diver-inspired automatic, and it wears its sea references without embarrassment: a screw-down crown, double gaskets, and a screw-in caseback engraved with a blue whale. Water resistance is 20 bar, or 200 meters. Küste, the German word for coast, names the edition rather than a numbered run.
The 42 mm case is 316L stainless steel with a silver finish, capped by a domed sapphire crystal with double anti-reflective coating and turned by a unidirectional bezel marked to 60 minutes. Inside is a Seiko/TMI NH35A automatic, 24 jewels, about 41 hours of power reserve, with the date at six. Two tones of Super-LumiNova light the hands, indices and bezel. The 20 mm rubber strap is the obvious pick if you actually plan to get it wet.
Boat days, lap swimming, an afternoon that ends in the water: this one is dressed for all of it.
Perfect for: 200 meter water resistant automatics, rubber strap dive watches, blue dial sports watch buyers.
