Black rubber under a black dial makes the red accents on this MARUS 2.0 do all the talking. It is the most single-minded configuration Sternglas offers in the line, and the most obviously built for water.

The MARUS 2.0 is the Hamburg brand's diver-inspired automatic. The crown screws down onto double gaskets, the caseback screws in and carries a blue whale engraving, and the rating is 20 bar, meaning 200 meters. Sternglas is candid that this is a dive-style design rather than a certified instrument, which is the honest way to describe a watch this capable at this size.

The 42 mm stainless steel case wears a unidirectional 60-minute bezel and a domed sapphire crystal with double anti-reflective coating. A Seiko/TMI NH35A automatic supplies 21,600 vibrations per hour and about 41 hours of reserve, with the date at six. Two tones of Super-LumiNova cover hands, indices and bezel, giving the black dial contrast in the dark as well as in daylight. The 20 mm rubber strap rinses clean and dries fast.
