MARUS 2.0 black-red silver / Field 20 yellow
Yellow nylon is a commitment. On this MARUS 2.0 it reads as deliberate rather than loud, because Sternglas has already put red on the dial for the strap to answer to.
The MARUS 2.0 is the diver-inspired automatic from the Hamburg brand, and the place where its maritime instincts are least subtle. The caseback screws in and carries an engraving of a blue whale; the crown screws down against double gaskets; water resistance is 20 bar, which is 200 meters. It is a design built to be read quickly in bad conditions rather than admired slowly in good ones.
This version pairs a black dial with red accents and a silver-tone 42 mm stainless steel case, under a domed sapphire crystal with double anti-reflective coating and a unidirectional bezel counting 60 minutes. The movement is a Seiko/TMI NH35A automatic, 24 jewels, roughly 41 hours of power reserve, date at six. Two tones of Super-LumiNova handle the dark. The 20 mm Field strap is thin nylon, cut at 1.5 mm so it stays flat under a sleeve.
Light on the wrist, loud in the best way, and easy to rinse off after a swim.
Perfect for: nylon strap dive-style watches, black and red dial automatics, summer beach and boat watches.
