Kaenos Open Date – black
Most sports watches fill the dial. The Kaenos Open Date empties it, then puts one long needle in charge of the entire day.
MeisterSinger has built its whole catalog around that single hand since Manfred Brassler founded the company in Münster in 2001, under the banner German Design, Swiss Made. Kaenos takes its name from the Greek kainos, meaning new, and it earned an iF Design Award in 2025. The collection splits in two: the standard Kaenos carries a large date in a window at six, while this Open Date leaves the date disc fully exposed below twelve, read without a window or a frame.
Black gives the layout its maximum contrast. Numerals run 01 to 12, a medium marker falls at each half hour, and the finest divisions mark every five minutes, so the hand's position tells you where you stand in the hour almost to the minute. The 40 mm stainless steel case uses a special integrated lug that flows into an H-link steel bracelet, is rated to 10 bar, and houses a Sellita SW200 automatic modified for single-hand drive.
From across a room it reads as a steel sports watch. Up close it reads as something considerably more deliberate.
Perfect for: integrated-bracelet steel sports watch buyers, black dial single-hand collectors, one-watch everyday automatic seekers.
