Kaenos – black

Look closely at a black Kaenos dial and the numerals are not printed on it. They are cut out of it.

The MeisterSinger Kaenos takes its name from the Greek kainos, meaning new or fresh, a nod to the Cenozoic era and to the brand's intention of starting something. It is the sporty-chic end of the range, with an integrated H-link steel bracelet flowing straight out of the case, and it won an iF Design Award in 2025. The dial is a two-layer sandwich construction: numerals are pierced through the upper layer to reveal a luminous layer beneath, which is why the markings glow as shapes rather than as painted lines.

In black, that construction is at its most dramatic, the cut-outs reading as pure contrast by day and as floating numerals at night. The 40 mm stainless steel case is 11.2 mm tall with 10 bar water resistance, a single hand for the time and a large date window at 6 o'clock. A Sellita SW400 automatic supplies 38 hours of running.
