HAMBURG Edition Hafen grey silver / Vintage 20 nero

Gray and black is a narrow palette to work in, which is exactly why it works. The Sternglas HAMBURG Edition Hafen on a Vintage strap in nero, the brand's name for black, leaves nothing to distract from the dial.

Sternglas was founded in Hamburg in 2016 by Dustin Fontaine, whose first production run was funded on Kickstarter that October. The HAMBURG collection is the brand's homage to the city and draws on the measuring instruments of seafaring; the Hafen edition points at the harbor specifically.

The dial is gray, held in a silver-tone stainless steel case of 42 mm with 20 mm lug spacing. A quartz movement handles the time and the date. Double-domed sapphire with double anti-reflective coating sits over the dial, and the watch is rated to 5 bar. The 20 mm Vintage leather strap in black finishes it without introducing a second color anywhere.

The most formal way to wear this edition, and by some distance the easiest to match.
