HAMBURG Chrono silver-satined silver / Vintage 20 mocha

Mocha leather does something specific to a bright silver chronograph dial: it takes the laboratory out of it. The Sternglas HAMBURG Chrono in silvery satin, worn on a Vintage strap in mocha brown, is the warmer half of that model's personality.

Sternglas has designed in Hamburg since 2016, when founder Dustin Fontaine funded the first production run on Kickstarter. The HAMBURG collection is the brand's homage to that city and takes its visual cues from nautical measuring instruments: bold Arabic numerals, a hairline outer minute track, high contrast, and nothing on the dial that does not help you read it.

The dial is satin silver and gently domed, with chronograph registers, a date window at six and a 24-hour counter. Running it is a VK64 meca-quartz caliber, which means the timekeeping is quartz while the chronograph itself is mechanically driven, so the elapsed-seconds hand glides and the reset is instant. The case measures 42 mm, capped with double-domed sapphire under double anti-reflective coating and rated to 5 bar. The 20 mm Vintage leather strap in mocha is the finishing choice.
