HAMBURG Chrono Edition Vintage dark green gold / Bridle 20 dark brown

Dark brown bridle leather does something black cannot: it lets the gold case and the green dial of the Sternglas HAMBURG Chrono Edition Vintage sit in the same tonal family instead of arguing.

Sternglas has designed in Hamburg since 2016, and the HAMBURG collection is its most literal nod to the city, with dials adapted from nautical measuring instruments. Large Arabic numerals, a fine outer minute track and Luminova make it a legible watch in any light. The Edition Vintage reinterprets that instrument dial through a 1960s lens and wraps it in a gold-toned case.

The case is 42 mm, the dial dark green, and the strap is Bridle-line leather in dark brown at 20 mm. Timekeeping comes from a Seiko/TMI VK64 meca-quartz calibre: quartz regulation with a mechanically driven chronograph, which is why the elapsed-seconds hand sweeps at five steps per second and resets with a snap rather than crawling home. A 24-hour register and a date at six complete the dial, protected by double-domed sapphire with double anti-reflective coating. Rated to 5 bar.
