HAMBURG Chrono Edition Neuwerk black silver / Vintage 20 nero-red

Black leather with red stitching is a racing convention that predates most of the watches wearing it. On the Sternglas HAMBURG Chrono Edition Neuwerk it gives a maritime-flavored dial an unexpected sporting edge.

The HAMBURG collection is Sternglas's tribute to its home city, and its dials are shaped by the instruments used at sea: heavy Arabic numerals, a fine minute scale printed around the outside, Luminova on hands and indices. Edition Neuwerk is a named Sternglas edition produced as a numbered run of 1,999 pieces.

This configuration puts a black dial in a 42 mm silver-finished stainless steel case on a Vintage-line leather strap in black with red, at 20 mm. Inside is a Seiko/TMI VK64 meca-quartz chronograph, which keeps time by quartz but drives the chronograph mechanically, so the elapsed-seconds hand sweeps at five steps per second and returns to zero instantly. The dial carries a 24-hour register and a date at six. Double-domed sapphire with double anti-reflective coating protects it, and the case is rated to 5 bar.

The red thread is the only color on the whole watch, which is precisely why it registers.
