Signal yellow on black is how instruments are marked when someone has to read them quickly. The Sternglas HAMBURG Chrono Edition Neuwerk takes that logic to the strap.

HAMBURG is the Sternglas collection built for legibility, drawing on the measuring instruments of seafaring: large Arabic numerals, a fine minute scale around the dial edge, and Luminova on the hands and markers. The Edition Neuwerk is one of the brand's named special editions and is a numbered run of 1,999 pieces, which makes it considerably scarcer than the standard catalog colorways.

The dial is black, the 42 mm case is stainless steel in a silver finish, and the strap is a Field nylon in signal yellow, 1.5 mm thick on 20 mm lugs and fitted without tools. Powering it is a Seiko/TMI VK64 meca-quartz chronograph: quartz timekeeping with a mechanically driven chronograph hand that sweeps in five steps per second and snaps back on reset. A 24-hour register and a date at six sit on the dial, under double-domed sapphire with double anti-reflective coating, rated to 5 bar.

High contrast, light on the wrist, and a strap that shrugs off rain. It wears like equipment, in the best sense.
