HAMBURG Automatic Edition Argo silver / Vintage mocha

Sternglas gave this edition of the HAMBURG Automatik a mythological name: Argo, after the ship of Greek legend that also lends its name to the constellation Argo Navis. On mocha leather, the silver Edition Argo trades the bracelet's coolness for something warmer.

Hamburg is a port city, and the collection named after it takes its dial language from the instruments of seafaring rather than from dress watchmaking. Edition Argo sits with the maritime side of the HAMBURG range and is limited to 1,999 numbered pieces, which is unusual for a brand that leaves most of its editions unnumbered.

The case is 42 mm of 316L stainless steel in silver, with sapphire crystal carrying anti-reflective coating on both surfaces and a 5 bar rating. A self-winding automatic movement runs the hands and a date display, so there is no battery to replace. The strap is mocha leather from the Vintage line, 20 mm at the lugs, cut to suit the diameter of the case.

Brown leather takes the edge off a numbered edition and makes it wearable on an ordinary Tuesday.
