HAMBURG Automatic dark blue bronze / Field 20 blue

Bronze tones usually arrive with leather attached. The Sternglas HAMBURG Automatic in dark blue and bronze goes the other way, landing on a flat blue nylon Field strap that keeps a 42 mm mechanical watch surprisingly light on the wrist.

HAMBURG is the line Sternglas named after its own city, and it borrows its look from the measuring instruments of seafaring: bolder Arabic numerals, a fine outer minute track, Luminova on the hands and indices. The screwed caseback is engraved with a map of Hamburg, with the Alster, the Reeperbahn, the Speicherstadt and the Landungsbrücken all in place.

The case is 316L stainless steel in a bronze tone, 42 mm across, over a domed satin dial in dark blue. Driving it is the Japanese Miyota 8215 automatic, good for 42 hours of running, with hand-winding, hacking seconds and a date. Double-domed sapphire with anti-reflective coating on both faces protects the dial, and the watch is rated to 5 bar. The Field strap is woven nylon, 1.5 mm thin, 20 mm at the lugs, and swaps out without tools.

This is the version to wear when the watch has to keep up with a bicycle, a boat deck or a long walk in weather.
