Every DW-5600 is a good watch. The GW-5000U is the one built the way the first one was, and then given forty years of module development.
It sits in G-SHOCK's 5600 Series with the original square outline, a stainless steel inner case beneath the resin, a screw-lock back and a DLC-treated finish. That construction is the reason it weighs 74 grams against the standard square's 53, and the reason collectors treat it as the reference model in the line.
All black, in a case 48.9 by 42.8 mm and 13.5 mm deep. Module 3495 runs on Tough Solar, so the case is never opened, and calibrates itself over Multi Band 6 radio from six transmitters. World time, a 1/100-second stopwatch, a countdown timer, five alarms and a full auto-calendar, lit by a full-auto Super Illuminator. 200 m water resistant.
The square with nothing left to want. Never set, never opened, and built like the first one.
