Forty years after the DW-5000C, Casio built the square again from scratch. The BZ5000 is that watch, and gold is the loudest way to have it.
The GMW-BZ5000 is the reworked full metal square in G-SHOCK's Full Metal line, with a revised steel case and bracelet and a slightly different profile from the B5000 it follows. Stainless steel throughout, one-touch three-fold clasp, spring bar adjustment and a screw-lock back.
Gold across the case and bracelet against a black display, in a case 49.3 by 43.6 mm and 13 mm deep at 172 grams. Module 3575 runs on Tough Solar and sets itself both over Multi Band 6 radio calibration and by Bluetooth to the CASIO WATCHES app. World time, a stopwatch, a countdown timer, alarms and a full auto-calendar. 200 m water resistant.
The heaviest and brightest square G-SHOCK makes. It is not trying to be subtle and it is very well made.
