Gold on a G-SHOCK is usually loud. The GMC-2500G-9A keeps it surprisingly calm by matching a gold bezel to a gold dial and letting a black band do the rest.
The model comes from G-SHOCK's new 2500 Series, the analog octagon designed around the toughness of the 1983 DW-5000C, with a small seconds subdial and a date wheel in place of a digital display. The GMC-2500 versions are metal-clad, meaning a stainless steel bezel sits over a resin and bio-based resin case, so the shock structure underneath is unchanged.
On this reference the steel bezel is gold ion plated, and the brass dial is finished in a matching gold tone with a color-matched three-cell date window. The textured band is black resin, which keeps the gold in proportion. The minute hand is held magnetically so it can absorb shock. 46.7 by 43.8 mm, 12.9 mm thick and 68 grams. Module 5757 delivers two years on a CR1025, a seconds-hand sleep function and 200 m water resistance.
A gold watch that can still take a knock, and one that pairs naturally with denim and leather.
