G-SHOCK GM-2100-1A - Metal-Clad Octagon
Take the thin octagon G-SHOCK launched in 2019, forge a bezel for it in stainless steel, and you get a watch that looks considerably more expensive than it behaves about being dropped.
The GM-2100 is the metal-bezel member of the 2100 Series. The bezel is steel; the case underneath and the band are resin, which is what keeps the weight at 72 grams and the shock structure intact. Casio calls this construction metal-clad, and it is a different thing from the Full Metal line, where the case and bracelet are steel too.
This is the original GM-2100, silver bezel over a black resin band. The case runs 49.3 by 44.4 mm and 11.8 mm deep. Two hands sweep over a small LCD, with a hand shift feature that swings them clear when you want to read the digital display, and Neobrite on the markers. Module 5611 holds 31 time zones, a 1/100-second stopwatch, a countdown timer and five alarms, and runs three years on a pair of cells. 200 m water resistant.
The one that made the metal bezel a mainstream G-SHOCK option, and still the cleanest execution of it.
