For forty years the answer to "which G-SHOCK?" has usually involved a digital screen. The GAC-2500 removes it entirely and asks how quickly you can read the time with nothing but hands.
The GAC-2500 opens G-SHOCK's new 2500 Series: the octagonal case outline, set up for a purely analog dial and drawing on the toughness brief of the 1983 DW-5000C, the first G-SHOCK. Instead of an LCD there is a "two-eye" layout, a small seconds subdial and a date wheel, with the Shock Resist mark on the tail of the seconds hand.
This is the all-black reference: black bio-based resin case, black dial, black band made with biomass plastics. The three-cell date window is printed to match the dial, so it stays quiet until you look for it. The minute hand is held to its arbor magnetically, so a hard knock is absorbed rather than passed to the movement. 44.5 mm across, 12.7 mm deep, 47 grams. Module 5757 runs two years on a CR1025, and a sleep function parks the seconds hand to save power. Neobrite markers, LED light with afterglow, 200 m water resistance.
Light, flat and stealthy, the version that looks most like a tool and least like a fashion choice.
