Casio spent thirty-six years building the G-SHOCK outward before anyone thought to build one thin. The GA-2100 arrived in 2019 with an octagonal bezel and a case under 12 mm, and the shape has been imitated ever since.
It belongs to G-SHOCK's 2100 Series, the line that proved shock resistance did not have to mean bulk. The trick is Carbon Core Guard: the case structure is carbon-reinforced resin, stiff enough to protect the module without the layers of padding earlier models needed. Less material, same job.
This is the reference that started it, in plain black. The 45.4 mm case is 11.8 mm deep and weighs 51 grams, which on the wrist reads as almost nothing. The dial is analog and digital at once, with skeleton hands over a small LCD and a double LED lighting both. Module 5611 keeps 31 time zones, a 1/100-second stopwatch, a countdown timer and five alarms, runs three years on a pair of cells and holds to fifteen seconds a month. Water resistance is 200 m.
The one to own if you want the silhouette without ornament. It disappears under a shirt cuff and survives everything you forget you are doing to it.
