FIVE WINDOWS Mid Bracelet Model [VM07-M14SB]
Most watches are assembled once. The MINASE FIVE WINDOWS Mid is designed to be taken apart repeatedly, down to the individual links of its bracelet, and put back together again.
MINASE calls this MORE, for MINASE Original Rebuilding Equation, and holds patents on it. The inspiration is kumiki-zaiku, the interlocking joinery of traditional Japanese woodwork, in which pieces hold one another without permanent fastening. In practice it means a scratched surface can be re-polished rather than lived with, a worn part can be replaced, and the watch can be serviced indefinitely. It is the mechanical basis of the company’s open-ended after-sales commitment.
Reference VM07-M14SB is the FIVE WINDOWS Mid on the MORE stainless steel bracelet, weighing about 118.7 g. The case-in-case measures 32 mm by 40.3 mm and 11.6 mm thick including the crystal, with sapphire at the front, in the case sides and across the display back. The movement is the self-winding caliber KT8001 with date, built on a Swiss ETA 2671 / Sellita SW100 base and finished by MINASE. Rated 5 atm, for rain and splashes.
A watch bought with the next few decades in mind rather than the next few years.
Perfect for: serviceable heirloom watches, rebuildable case construction, compact steel bracelet automatics.
