A silver dial on a silver mesh bracelet is a monochrome exercise. With no color to lean on, everything comes down to finish and proportion.

The BERLIN is Sternglas's railway watch, marking the 1846 Hamburg to Berlin line and carrying the Berliner Bahnhof on its caseback. It is also the only line in the Hamburg brand's range where a day-of-week indicator joins the date, which is a small departure from its usual policy of showing as little as possible.

The Miyota GM02 quartz caliber behind the dial handles day and date, offers day names in English or German, and runs about three years on a battery. The silver dial sits in a 38 mm stainless steel case with 20 mm lugs, under double-domed sapphire with anti-reflective coating on both faces, rated to 5 bar. The Milanaise bracelet is 316L woven Milanese mesh, 2.5 mm thick, with a stepless sliding clasp.

This is as close as a watch gets to being a neutral accessory, and it is built to outlast whatever it is worn with.
