BERLIN green / Heritage 20 dark brown silver
Green dial, brown strap, steel case. The combination is borrowed from field jackets, and it works just as well under a sleeve as over one.
Sternglas built the BERLIN as a nod to the 1846 rail link that joined Hamburg to Berlin, with Hamburg's Berliner Bahnhof engraved on the screwed caseback. Founded in Hamburg in 2016, the brand draws its dials to Bauhaus rules, then breaks its own habit of minimum information with one addition: the day of the week.
The Miyota GM02 quartz caliber shows day and date together, with the day switchable between English and German and a battery good for around 36 months. The green dial sits in a 38 mm stainless steel case with 20 mm lugs and a 45 mm lug-to-lug span, under double-domed sapphire with double anti-reflective coating, rated to 5 bar. The Heritage strap is dark brown cowhide with an alligator emboss and a silver buckle.
Warmer than the black-strap version, and the easier of the two to wear with denim.
Perfect for: green dial watches with brown leather, casual day-date watches, Bauhaus-style watches for men.
