29er Big Small Second — Stone White Dial / Steel Bracelet

Turn this one over and the caseback is a window. Behind it, the Mühle rotor swings on its ball bearing, its heavy outer segment and gold-colored rivets marking out a movement finished and regulated in Glashütte.

The watch is the 29er Big Small Second, from a Mühle-Glashütte family named after the 29er sailing dinghy rather than any measurement. The dinghy is the youth class that leads to the Olympic 49er, and the watch was developed in 2006 with the same intent, as a first step into Glashütte watchmaking. Small seconds at six o'clock, set in an open inner scale, are what separate this model from the rest of the line.

The dial is stone white with applied indices, Super-LumiNova on hands and markers, and the date at three. The stainless steel case measures 42 mm in diameter, 11.3 mm high and 49 mm from lug to lug, here on a brushed steel bracelet with a folding clasp, 121 grams complete. The SW 261-1 in Version Mühle specification carries woodpecker neck fine regulation and 41 hours of reserve. Anti-reflective sapphire, screw-down crown, 10 bar.

Bright dial, full steel, nothing extraneous. The version that looks most at home in an office.
