29er Big — Black Dial / Black Pigskin
The plainest configuration in the range, and probably the most useful: black dial, black pigskin, steel case, one date window. The 29er Big does not need decoration, and Mühle-Glashütte does not add any.
Sailing supplied the name. The 29er dinghy is the boat that trains crews for the Olympic 49er, and Mühle applied the analogy in 2006 to a watch meant to open the door to Glashütte watchmaking. The firm has been in Glashütte since 1869, first as a maker of precision measuring instruments.
The case measures 42.4 mm across, 11.3 mm deep and 49 mm lug to lug, in stainless steel with anti-reflective sapphire and an exhibition back. The black pigskin strap is 22 mm at the lugs on a pin buckle. Applied indices and hands are coated with Super-LumiNova, and the date sits at 3. The SW 200-1, Version Mühle automatic delivers 41 hours and hacking seconds, and is finished in Glashütte with solarised surfaces, perlage and blued screws.
The version to buy if you want one watch and no decisions.
Perfect for: all-black watch styling, everyday leather strap automatics, no-nonsense daily wear.
