29er Big — White Dial / Nautical Blue Canvas
A white dial on a nautic blue canvas strap is about as direct a statement of intent as a watch can make. The 29er Big is Mühle-Glashütte's larger take on its most maritime line, and this is the version that wears the sea on the outside.
The name comes from sailing rather than sizing. The 29er is the youth dinghy that trains crews for the Olympic 49er, and Mühle developed the watch in 2006 with the same purpose in mind. The 29er and the 29er Big are one design in two sizes; Mühle calls them identical twins, in appearance and in precision alike.
This one measures 42.4 mm across, 11.3 mm deep and 49 mm from lug to lug, in stainless steel with anti-reflective sapphire and an exhibition caseback. The white dial carries applied indices coated with Super-LumiNova and a date at 3 o'clock; the blue canvas strap is 22 mm at the lugs with a steel pin buckle. The automatic SW 200-1, Version Mühle gives 41 hours, stop-seconds for exact setting and 10 bar of water resistance.
A summer watch with real substance behind it, and the easiest of the five builds to read as nautical.
Perfect for: white dial sports watches, blue canvas strap pairings, 42 mm automatic watches.
