29er — Apricot Dial / Beige Canvas
Apricot is not a color the watch industry reaches for often, which is most of the appeal. On the 29er it reads as a soft, sunlit warm tone that shifts with the light, and Mühle-Glashütte pairs it here with beige canvas.
The 29er takes its name from a sailing dinghy, the youth class that trains crews for the Olympic 49er, and was designed in 2006 to do the same work in watch form: someone's introduction to Glashütte, the Saxon town where Mühle has been in business since 1869. Nautical color palettes have been part of the line ever since.
The apricot dial keeps the family furniture, with applied indices coated in Super-LumiNova, luminous hands and a date at 3 o'clock. The stainless steel case is 36.6 mm across and 10.4 mm deep, on a beige canvas strap with quick-release spring bars. The automatic SW 200-1, Version Mühle provides 41 hours and hacking seconds, and wears Mühle's patented woodpecker neck regulator, which holds its adjustment when the watch takes a knock.
Summery without being a novelty, and small enough that the color never dominates.
Perfect for: colored dial watches, summer and vacation wear, 36 mm automatics for slim wrists.
