29er — Apricot Dial / Dark Brown Tiber Leather
Two warm tones, deliberately close without matching: an apricot dial above a dark brown Tiber strap. It is the most tonal of the Mühle-Glashütte 29er configurations, and the one that clearly came from someone thinking about color rather than defaulting to black.
The 29er is named after a boat. The dinghy of that name is the youth class that leads crews to the Olympic 49er, and the watch was drawn in 2006 along the same lines, as a proper way into Glashütte watchmaking rather than a diluted one. The maritime thread runs deep; Mühle's full company name still includes the words nautical instruments.
Steel case, 36.6 mm wide and 10.4 mm deep, sapphire above and an exhibition sapphire below. Applied indices and Super-LumiNova, central seconds, date at 3 o'clock. The 18 mm Tiber strap fastens with a steel pin buckle. The automatic SW 200-1, Version Mühle gives 41 hours of reserve and stop-seconds, its rate held steady by the woodpecker neck regulator, whose spring presses the index arm down onto the balance cock so shock cannot move it.
A warm, quiet watch that reads well in low light and better in sunshine.
Perfect for: warm-toned dials, tonal leather pairings, small dress-casual automatics.
